Role Description
This role involves designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting applications software that is delivered on time and within budget.
- Work closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements.
- Drive analysis and design of quality technical solutions ensuring alignment with business and IT strategies.
- Provide application software development services or technical support typically in a defined project.
- Develop program logic for new applications or analyze and modify logic in existing applications.
- Code, test, debug, document, implement, and maintain software applications.
- Maintain, test, and integrate application components.
- Make recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code.
- Ensure system improvements are successfully implemented.
- Demonstrate an understanding of FIS systems and the financial services industry.
- Analyze requirements and translate business requirements into product designs.
- Write technical specifications and other forms of documentation.
- Suggest technical alternatives and improve/streamline processes and systems.
- Complete project assignments and special projects commensurate with job expectations.
- Conduct planning, analysis, and forecasting activities to plan projects and tasks.
- Participate in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation, and buy versus build recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Security and Assurance, or related field.
- Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Requirements
- Managing application server operations, including start/stop processes, cluster & node management, and performance monitoring using IBM Websphere Application Server administrative console.
- Utilizing Splunk to analyze logs and investigate application and functional issues.
- Maintaining Unix/Linux server environments for enterprise applications by performing regular housekeeping, managing file systems, and monitoring CPU memory and swap space to ensure system stability.
- Communicating with end users to gather accurate information for incident and request tickets in ServiceNow, ensuring timely resolution and adhering to defined Service Level Agreements.
- Developing shell scripts to automate manual processes, reducing operational toil and enhancing system stability.
- Performing root cause analysis for incidents, documenting findings, contributing to process improvement initiatives, and tracking problems to final resolution, ensuring long-term fixes and reducing recurrence.
