Job Description
Role Description
In the role of Financial Analyst, you'll focus on elevating the financial and operational strategy across various emerging business units rather than concentrating on a specific product. Your primary responsibility will be to enrich onX’s financial management practices, aiming to multiply the effectiveness and efficiency of all teams. You'll play a critical role in shaping onX’s growth trajectory as you will be responsible for providing operational insights and optimization, and drive the annual budgeting process for each newly emerging business (roughly 1-5 year businesses, size-dependent).
- Analyze financial/operational data to identify trends, perform variance analysis, and deliver insightful recommendations for performance improvement.
- Lead weekly meetings with key business leaders for each business unit, identifying anomalies in business performance and opportunities for growth.
- Prepare bi-weekly analysis to construct a narrative around business performance and present to key stakeholders across the business.
- Engage in productive partnerships with leaders, offering critical financial insights that facilitate agile, informed decision-making and fuel breakout growth.
- Drive the budgeting and forecasting process, aligning financial planning with the organization’s strategic goals and operational needs.
- Assist in the production and analysis of financial reports and key performance indicators (KPIs), providing insights that inform strategic decisions and operational efficiencies.
- Explore and analyze potential growth opportunities, supporting the identification and evaluation of pathways for organic and inorganic expansion.
- Demonstrate analytical acumen, integrity, and a commitment to the organization’s values, earning the trust and confidence of the leadership team and peers.
- Foster a culture of financial awareness and discipline throughout the organization, providing training and support to non-finance teams on budget management and financial best practices.
- Look for opportunities to embed AI as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows by integrating experimentation into real work, and continuously refining its use with sound judgment and validation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in finance, strategy, or operations.
- Strong ability to partner with leaders across the company and drive outcomes together.
- Desire to learn and grow, constant learning mindset.
- Ability to travel monthly or quarterly for multiple days (primarily to Bozeman or Missoula).
- Experience with core analytical tools (Excel, Tableau, Google sheets, Powerpoint, Word, Google Docs, etc).
- Strong reading and writing skills, onX is primarily a document-driven company and you will read/write documents in narrative format regularly.
- A desire to learn and leverage AI tools.
- Self-starter with a drive for excellence, the ability to build strong working relationships, and motivate others to achieve their best performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
- Experience in a SaaS business is strongly preferred, especially B2C.
- A service-oriented individual who continually challenges the status quo and focuses on continuous improvement.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Ability to lead, work independently, and work in a team environment.
- A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
- Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.
Requirements
- Strong preference will be given to those located in Salt Lake, Missoula, or Bozeman, areas where other finance employees are concentrated.
- M&A and corp dev experience.
Benefits
- Competitive salaries, annual bonuses, equity, and opportunities for growth.
- Comprehensive health benefits, including a no-monthly-cost medical plan.
- Paid parental leave of 13 weeks for birthing parents and 5 weeks for non-birthing parents.
