You will have a profound impact on the engineering org’s technical strategy and velocity, ensuring that people are able to move faster through technology. You’ll leverage existing technologies and bring some opinions of your own to the discussion to improve the engineering ecosystem. You will also be a source of coaching and mentoring for our team members and will help us to hire and retain a team of engaged and thriving engineers.
Some projects to get excited about:

- Collaborating with feature teams across the org to migrate container orchestrators, adopting and deploying with Hashicorp Nomad
As a Staff Engineer, you’ll...
- Be a chief advisor to the future build of Lob’s platform and its capabilities
- Be responsible for leading projects from design to implementation
- Coordinate and facilitate the execution of strategic initiatives within the team as well as cross functionally
- Coach and mentor other engineers on the team about best practices around platform architecture and general DevOps philosophy and implementation
- Embed with other engineering teams to help adoption of new technologies, and contribute to solving complex problems spanning multiple domains
- Work with engineering teams across the organization, improving tooling, process, internal developer experience, automation, and the entire engineering ecosystem
What you will bring to this role...
- You are a veteran in the software and platform engineering space with deep experience around cloud services and site reliability
- You are a master of telemetry and observability
- Shipped large, complex, business-impacting software projects for which you were the primary/lead technical designer or architect
- Experience with one or more of the following languages: Javascript, GoLang, Python; Bonus points if GoLang
- Experience with integrating one or more of the following technologies into architectures and best practices with them: Nomad, Terraform, Consul, Datadog, SNS/SQS, Redis, Postgres, Aurora, Lambda, etc
- Experience with at least one public cloud vendor (AWS preferred)
- Grown others around you through coaching, mentoring, and leading and can give examples of how you’ve done it
- You’re Curious, Compassionate, Committed, and Passionate about your craft and can share that with others
Since great engineers come from a variety of backgrounds, it doesn’t particularly matter if you have a specific degree—we want to hear about your contributions in a real-world setting.

LoancrateWe started Loancrate to make home-buying simpler and less expensive for lenders and borrowers. Today, mortgage lenders are stuck running their companies on software products built 20 years ago. These products are slow, unstable, and don't lead to material improvements in efficiency. When using these systems, the average human cost to originate a loan is still over $11,000. Loancrate builds AI-native tooling to automate mortgage workflows. Our ultimate goal is fully automated origination, which has the potential to save lenders over $16B in operating expense per year. Since starting in 2020, our remote team has enabled our customers to power >$85 billion in new home loans. We are a group of people excited to tackle the complexity of the home-lending industry. We care about collaboration, very open communication covering the good & the bad so that we learn from our decisions quickly, and ultimately having fun while we're building. You'll fit in well if you like diving deep quickly!
Senior Platform Engineer building tooling and systems for Loancrate's mortgage platform.
