Job Description

• Independently handle an inventory of litigated and non-litigated files • Advise and mentor less senior attorneys • Travel for depositions, mediations, mandatory settlement conferences, arbitrations and trials as needed • Prepare discovery, legal pleadings, trial briefs, etc. • Appear and advocate on behalf of CSAA IG and member insureds • Conduct all phases of personal injury litigation including jury trials, motions, and arbitration hearings • Handle complex legal matters or projects including matters not in litigation • Identify issues with major implications, high liability exposure, special circumstances and/or departure from guidelines • Refer to higher level staff for review and possible assignment of additional resources

Job Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of experience in insurance defense practice with courtroom and first or second chair trial experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively with assigned paralegal(s) and support staff
  • Requires law degree
  • License to practice law in California required
  • Skilled in personal injury litigation including liability assessment, causation, damages, coverage, personal injury damages and causation and the tri-partite relationship
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an organized and timely manner
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS office and online research tools
  • Ability to advocate creatively, persuasively and effectively
  • The ability to think and act independently in a client’s best interest
  • Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of legal ethics
