Role Description

This role involves owning the execution of Leading Educators' thought leadership writing and publishing—translating complex insights into compelling narratives that strengthen LE's credibility and influence.

  • Strategic leadership role at the intersection of editorial excellence, organizational strategy, and field impact.
  • Work closely with senior leaders across various subjects to synthesize expertise into field-facing writing.
  • Lead the execution of major publications, including research reports and strategic briefs.
  • Establish systems, processes, and editorial standards for high-quality thought leadership production.
  • Evaluate opportunities based on strategic alignment and field impact.
  • Manage one direct report and coach leaders to articulate their ideas clearly.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate research synthesis and drafting workflows.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in editorial leadership, journalism, publishing, or thought leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to translate complex subject matter into clear, compelling writing for senior decision-makers.
  • Experience leading major publications from concept through launch.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to assess which ideas should be elevated.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders to ghostwrite and refine their voice.
  • Proven experience building or refining editorial systems and workflows.
  • Prior experience managing at least one staff member.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience using AI tools to support research and content repurposing.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • AI Fluency at the Practitioner level.
  • Ability to travel moderately for organizational retreats and professional development.
  • Experience in education, nonprofit, policy, or mission-driven organizations (preferred).
  • Experience positioning executives as public thought leaders (preferred).
  • Understanding of how thought leadership supports partnership development (preferred).

Requirements

  • Moderate travel required for organizational retreats and programming.
  • Work from a home office located anywhere within the U.S.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $103,649 to $140,231 per year, with a standard starting salary of $121,940.
  • 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for individual employees.

  • Time off: 22 days accrued per year for the first three years, with additional days after the third and sixth year.
