Role Description
The Communications Specialist is responsible for assisting with writing and communication projects that support a cohesive federal communication strategy which includes workforce communications for civilians and military and external public affairs opportunities.
- Plans and implements communication strategies.
- Leads the implementation of cohesive communications strategies that span social media, media relations, email campaigns, and related communications strategies.
- Coaches and mentors other communications professionals on the team.
- Provides training and direction for ensuring the achievement of maximum performance with high standards.
- Creates and implements communications material that delivers consistent key messages to target audiences through appropriate channels.
- Engages with project stakeholders in written and oral communication effectively and professionally.
- Prepares quality client deliverables.
- Supports public engagements, inward-facing engagements, media relations, knowledge management, and preserving the agency’s history.
- Elevates the brand awareness through events, social media, and other communication channels.
- Makes recommendations for improvements.
- Able to work independently and handle complex tasks and projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of ten plus (10+) years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Requirements
- Must possess appropriate level of certifications for this position as required by the contract.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment, and property.
