Role Description

The Controller serves as a key financial leader responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, government contract compliance, and internal controls in a federal contracting environment. This role partners closely with the CFO/CEO to support strategic planning, cash flow management, operational forecasting, and business growth initiatives.

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions while delivering forward-looking financial insight through variance analysis, project financial reporting, indirect rate management, and performance metrics.
  • Play a critical role in audit readiness, Deltek Costpoint administration, contract financial compliance, and organizational maturity (ISO/CMMI).
  • Lead and develop the accounting team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting/financial management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of government contracting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Deltek Costpoint in a GovCon environment (required).
  • Demonstrated experience managing audits, indirect rates, project accounting, and financial reporting.

  • Proven ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with executives, operational leaders, and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills; working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated initiative in improving financial systems, controls, and workflows.
