Role Description

This role involves planning and preparing revenue analysis for system-wide programs, projects, and services, as well as monitoring revenue budgets and benchmarking activities.

  • Identifies and researches opportunities to enhance revenue and improve administrative efficiency of governmental payor programs.
  • Works with the Manager of Reimbursement and financial and operational leadership to implement identified opportunities.
  • Reviews government agency bulletins, publications, and the Federal Register to understand proposed and actual changes impacting Aurora.
  • Analyzes the financial and operational impact of statutory and regulatory changes.
  • Coordinates Aurora's response to government agencies on proposed rulemaking.
  • Assists with operational changes to maximize Aurora's reimbursement under government programs.
  • Serves as a representative on various advisory groups related to Medicaid and healthcare quality.
  • Participates in public forums to inform payers and providers on policy changes.
  • Advocates for administrative flexibility within government regulations.
  • Provides support to Finance and Operations on reimbursement-related matters.
  • Assists with the preparation of the model template for the annual budget process for third-party reimbursement.
  • Prepares necessary information for annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
  • Supports and coordinates all system Fiscal Intermediary data requests, audits, and exit conferences.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with the Fiscal Intermediary.
  • Prepares analysis and recommendations for regulatory reviews.
  • Coordinates the system-wide monthly closing process regarding Medicare/Medicaid liabilities.
  • Monitors processes for accurate payment and interim payments for Medicare/Medicaid.
  • Requests adjustments from United Government Services (UGS) and updates internal systems.
  • Works with Graduate Medical Education programs to ensure proper reimbursement and minimize audit exposure.
  • Assists with pro forma analysis for new community partnerships to project future budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in reimbursement, including preparation of Medicare/Medicaid cost reports.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise with Medicare and Medicaid regulations in a healthcare or federal intermediary setting.
  • Knowledge of third-party regulations and financial statements to maximize reimbursement rates.
  • Strong initiative and ability to produce high-quality analytical results independently.
  • Strong accounting background with experience in preparing/reviewing healthcare financial statements.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access) and data management tools.
  • Proficiency in data mining and analysis.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of completing projects successfully.
