About the Role:
You will be a critical member of Lyra’s Commercial Contracts Team, primarily responsible for driving commercial transactions to fulfill Lyra’s mission of bringing mental health solutions to employers nationwide. You will also provide strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders and contribute to team projects that support Lyra’s rapid growth.
The ideal candidate will exhibit the experience necessary to move fluently between standardized templates and "blank page" drafting in a fast-paced company. You should thrive in an environment that requires flexibility and pivoting to meet change. We are looking for an attorney who enjoys the art of contract drafting and has the professional maturity to advise internal stakeholders on complex business risks.
This is a remote position, but candidates must be physically located within the United States.
\n- Independent Drafting & Negotiation: Lead the end-to-end negotiation of commercial contracts, including but not limited to service agreements, confidentiality agreements, data privacy and security agreements, and partnership agreements.
- Bespoke Contract Creation: Create ad-hoc agreements and custom language from scratch for unique partnerships where standard templates do not apply.
- Strategic Advisory: Identify legal and business risks in real-time and effectively communicate "plain English" advice to sales, customer relations, and operational teams.
- Process Innovation: Familiarity and enthusiasm for using AI to improve our contracting process and how it can contribute to projects aimed at process improvements to scale our operations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal experts to ensure agreements comply with healthcare laws, data security standards, and company policies and collaborate with leadership and internal stakeholders to define/drive discussions with clients and prospects
- Education: Law degree from an accredited law school and membership in a state bar in good standing.
- Experience: 5+ years of legal experience (in-house, law firm, or a combination of both.)
- Transactional Expertise: Proven track record of negotiating complex technology and/or healthcare sales contracts with large corporate entities. Must have experience with BAAs and related laws.
- Drafting Skills: Exceptional ability to draft and redline complex commercial documents with precision and efficiency.
- Strategic Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to build rapport with internal stakeholders and external counsel while maintaining a firm, professional stance during high-stakes negotiations.
- Problem Solving: Strong judgment and the ability to balance legal protection with the need to drive business growth. Willingness to think about solutions, both big and small, figuring out root causes, weighting pros and cons, and coming up with creative suggestions.
- Adaptability: Eagerness to take on new areas of law and function independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Attitude: Bring a fun and enthusiastic attitude to a team that values collegiality and an enjoyable work environment.
- In-house experience within a technology or healthcare organization.
- Knowledge of privacy and security standards for sensitive information (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA).
- Familiarity with healthcare delivery systems or regulations (e.g., ERISA, Provider contracts).
- Experience with partnership contracts.
