Lumen connects the world. We are igniting business growth by connecting people, data and applications – quickly, securely, and effortlessly. Together, we are building a culture and company from the people up – committed to teamwork, trust and transparency. People power progress.

We’re looking for top-tier talent and offer the flexibility you need to thrive and deliver lasting impact. Join us as we digitally connect the world and shape the future.

The Role

We are seeking a Product Architect to join Lumen’s Managed & Professional Services organization. This role is responsible for architecting and evolving managed network, managed security, and service intelligence solutions that align with Lumen’s strategic vision and enterprise architecture standards.

The Senior Lead Product Architect operates at the intersection of product strategy and technical execution—providing architectural leadership, defining solution designs, and ensuring consistency with Lumen’s Corporate North Star, IT, and Service Assurance architectures. This role partners closely with Product Management, Engineering, Security, and Operations teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high‑performance solutions.

The Main Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

Define and own high‑level software and system architectures for managed network, managed security, and service intelligence solutions. Produce architectural designs, reference architectures, and technical specifications that guide development and integration.

Technical Leadership & Governance

Provide technical leadership across delivery teams, establishing architectural standards, best practices, and design patterns. Conduct architectural reviews and ensure solutions meet performance, security, scalability, and reliability requirements.

Product & Stakeholder Collaboration

Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Security, Operations, and other stakeholders to translate product requirements into technically sound and scalable solutions. Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the product lifecycle.

System Integration & Interoperability

Oversee the integration of multiple platforms, services, and software components to ensure seamless end‑to‑end functionality. Define integration patterns, interfaces, and interaction models across complex, distributed systems.

Quality, Security & Compliance Assurance

Ensure architectural designs adhere to enterprise security, compliance, and operational standards. Identify and mitigate technical risks early through design reviews and continuous evaluation.

Architecture Alignment & Strategy

Ensure all solutions align with Lumen’s Corporate North Star and are consistent with IT, Network, and Service Assurance architectural strategies. Drive architectural coherence across portfolios and initiatives.

Innovation & Emerging Technology Adoption

Stay current with emerging technologies, architectural trends, and industry best practices. Evaluate and incorporate new capabilities where appropriate to improve scalability, automation, observability, and customer value.

Mentorship & Enablement

Mentor architects and senior engineers, fostering strong architectural discipline, documentation standards, and technical decision‑making across teams.

What We Look For in a Candidate

8+ years of experience in software architecture, systems engineering, or technical solution design, preferably within managed services, networking, security, or large‑scale enterprise platforms.

Architectural Expertise

Strong experience designing distributed systems, service‑oriented and cloud‑based architectures, and complex system integrations.

Technical Leadership

Proven ability to lead architectural decisions, influence cross‑functional teams, and establish enterprise‑level standards.

Strategic Thinking

Ability to align technical architecture with product strategy and long‑term business objectives.

Collaboration & Communication

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex architectural concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Quality & Security Focus

Strong understanding of performance, scalability, resilience, and security principles in enterprise environments.
