Role Description
This role involves designing and defining system architecture for new or existing complex computer systems. Responsibilities include:
- Determining systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security.
- Coordinating design of subsystems and integration of total system.
- Identifying, analyzing, and resolving program support deficiencies.
- Developing and recommending corrective actions.
- Providing technical guidance for database administrators and software developers.
Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking an Architect to support enterprise-level planning of new programs while maintaining a bridge to the current landscape. The ideal candidate will:
- Design and build information systems to support the construction of large and complex products.
- Work collaboratively with a diverse team of programmers, engineers, architects, and administrators.
- Play a critical role in the construction and overhaul of nuclear powered aircraft carriers and submarines.
The depth and breadth of Newport News Shipbuilding is vast, with immense opportunities for technical growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience
- Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
- Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
- Equivalent qualifications may include:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate's Degree or other formal 2-year program with 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED with 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED with 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
- A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 12 years of relevant professional/exempt experience
- Master’s Degree in related field and 9 years of relevant professional/exempt experience
- PhD in related field and 4 years of relevant professional/exempt experience
Requirements
- Hands-on expertise in designing and executing in at least a few SAP areas, including:
- SAP S/4HANA Implementations, SAP Fiori
- SAP ECC, Process Orchestration, SuccessFactors, payroll, Concur, and SAP overall technology landscape
- SAP BPC, PEO, EWM, SCM & GRC experience is a plus
- Prior experience implementing SAP Ariba and Fieldglass is a plus
- Ability to develop multiple architectural models to meet future company needs efficiently and sustainably.
- Promote the use of shared infrastructure and applications to maximize benefits, minimize risk, and optimize resources.
- Experience in integration architecture and patterns, including integration via APIs and services.
