Job Description
• Partnering with the International Business Unit (IBU) Procurement teams at Lilly
• Provide legal and strategic counseling and substantive expertise to IBU procurement
• Act as a transactional partner and strategic advisor to Lilly’s IBU procurement functions
• Initiatives include transactional support of IBU Procurement’s external contracting function
• Identify and resolve highly complex legal issues in IBU procurement and its related products and professional services space
• Drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements, building internal consensus, and driving successful business outcomes
• Providing clear advice to internal clients and legal leadership
• Effectively communicating and translating complex technical, performance, and regulatory issues into understandable terms
• Represent Lilly externally to customers and suppliers
Job Requirements
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Admission to the bar in at least one of the fifty states
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience related to the drafting, review, and negotiation of sophisticated transactions
- Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify opportunities for creative and innovative solutions to transactional issues and process improvements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to influence others
- Sound judgment, commitment to ethical conduct, and a high level of attention to detail
- Demonstrated business acumen
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage workflows for multiple assignments in parallel
- Ability to effectively and responsively collaborate with team members, other lawyers, and members of management, across all levels of the organization
- Ability to quickly understand and integrate with Lilly Legal and pharmaceutical industry
