A Day in the Life

Systems Operations Administrator


The Systems Operations Administrator plays a key role in accelerating time‑to‑market by embedding quality into every stage of our processes. Supporting the Professional Services business within Acute Care and Monitoring, this role applies advanced technical expertise to support our system and tool foundation, solve complex challenges, enhance operational efficiency, support customer needs, and ultimately contribute to im

proved patient outcomes.

 

  • Participate on systems operations and support teams responsible for global systems and Vital Sync remote support environments.

  • Provide full lifecycle management of remote support tools to ensure reliable system operations.

  • Support global discovery, design, documentation, and optimization of systems.

  • Lead user, vendor, and governance processes ensuring compliance with data security, privacy, architectural policies, and Quality Assurance guidelines.

  • Define and drive innovation in remote monitoring, remote access, and system efficiency.

  • Provide domain expertise for monitoring solutions in hospital environments.

  • Develop and deploy tools that enable field installations and configurations.

  • Offer training and enablement to ensure proper system usage and adoption.

  • Create, maintain, and improve system documentation.

  • Deeply understand and support reporting needs, including gathering and refining requirements for custom reports.

  • Deliver holistic system insights that support business growth and improved operational outcomes.

  • Perform other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by Management.

Systems Operations & Administration

  • Full lifecycle management of remote support tools (e.g., N-Able, CyberArk, Imprivata CPAM).

  • Manage global system discovery, design, user administration, and vendor coordination.

  • Optimize existing systems, documentation, and enablement workflows.

  • Define and track efficiency metrics.

Monitoring & Remote Support

  • Provide expertise in remote system monitoring, SNMP, and Windows Server environments.

  • Support commercial product performance through monitoring solutions.

  • Develop and deploy hardware/software tools for field and remote operations.

 

Reporting & Analytics

  • Support creation of custom reports through structured requirements gathering.

  • Provide data analytics insights and help define repeatable reporting processes.

Team Enablement & Training

  • Create and maintain system documentation.

  • Provide training to ensure proper system utilization.

  • Enable cross-functional and cross-cultural collaboration.

Governance & Compliance

  • Partner with the GSO to ensure compliance with Medtronic policies.

  • Lead NPTV compliance processes for new systems.

Professional Requirements

  • BS Degree in any field.

  • Strong data analytics skills and experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio.

  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and initiative.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels, including executive leadership.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Skilled in influencing cross-functional and external teams toward shared goals.

  • Recognizes when to escalate issues and engage governance structures.

  • Offers strategic insights and recommendations to support diverse stakeholder needs.

  • Operates with urgency and a results-driven mindset.

  • Understands stakeholder roles and resource alignment within project teams.

  • Ability to oversee technical projects involving infrastructure deployment, cloud migration, and security enhancements. Experience with system administration, virtualization, and secure networking to manage cross-functional teams, coordinate IT implementations, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

 

Technical Requirements

  • 7–10 years of monitoring experience with various tools.

  • 5+ years of Windows Server experience.

  • Experience supporting commercial products.

  • Experience with network operations and protocols.

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with governance processes and procedures.

  • Powershell experience in hospital environments.

  • Experience with SQL systems.

  • Working knowledge of SNMP

  • Understanding of clinical applications in hospital settings.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$117,600.00 - $176,400.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
