Job Description
Role Description
The State Bar of California seeks two full-time Senior Program Analysts to join its access to justice and diversity and inclusion team. The hiring team may consider applications for one or both positions. Candidates are welcome to describe their interest in either or both roles in their materials.
Position 1:
- Researching and drafting policies about legal profession regulations and other legal innovations
- Developing an access to justice research and programming portfolio to support California legal aid amidst changes in funding and policy
- Supporting the development of coordinated intake systems
- Administrative rulemaking
- Developing and managing projects to advance access to the legal system and diversity, equity, and inclusion in California’s legal profession
- Maintaining important relationships with volunteers, agencies, grantees, and other stakeholders
- A small portion of responsibilities may include grants administration
- Travel to visit in-person with State Bar grantees and other stakeholders
Position 2:
- Administering grants for legal services to low-income Californians
- Researching and writing for memos to a public commission, council, and committees
- Coordinating, presenting to, and developing important relationships with commissioners, public agencies, nonprofit grantees, volunteers, and other partners
- Crafting regulations and other policies to increase transparency, efficiency, and impact in administering grants
- Developing and managing projects that advance Californians’ access to the legal system and diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession
- Travel to visit in-person with State Bar grantees and other stakeholders
Qualifications
- Excellent communicator with precise writing and analytical skills
- Demonstrates sound judgment and attention to detail
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Collaboration and relationship building skills are essential
- Experience in policy analysis, legal aid, or grantmaking is a plus
- Passion for social justice, collegiality, and integrity
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a field that develops skills related to essential duties, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position
- Minimum of three (3) years of journey-level professional experience in data collection and evaluation, research or performance or financial analysis, or grant compliance in a public sector, legal or nonprofit environment, or equivalent
Benefits
- Annual Salary Range: $104,308 - $139,079
- FLSA: Exempt / Union Represented
- This position allows for up to four days of remote work per week
