Technical Project Manager (R&D Programs)
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (Permanent considered for the right candidate)
Location: Richmond, VA (Remote possible, depending on candidate/role fit)
Rate: $50–$65/hr
Position Overview
We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to manage research and development (R&D) projects from planning through execution. This role focuses on project execution, cross-team coordination, and milestone tracking. The ideal candidate has several years of experience managing technical projects and is looking to grow into higher-level program leadership.
\n- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Track deliverables and action items across mechanical, electrical, software, and validation teams.
- Support design reviews, prototype builds, and testing efforts.
- Facilitate day-to-day coordination, risk tracking, and reporting.
- Provide regular project updates to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate documentation of requirements, risks, and lessons learned.
- Focus on execution and coordination to keep projects moving forward.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of project management experience in a technical or R&D environment.
- Familiarity with engineering tools (SolidWorks, CAD, Jira, Confluence, MS Project).
- Understanding of product development lifecycles (concept, prototype, test).
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Contract-to-Hire is preferred, though permanent placement may be considered for the right candidate.
- Remote role – must be an excellent communicator and able to collaborate across distributed teams.
