Job Description
• Perform system connectivity troubleshooting and evaluation of data anomalies.
• Act as a liaison between emergency departments and urgent cares that participate in syndromic surveillance and serve as a recruitment specialist for onboarding new facilities into ESSENCE-FL.
• Facilitate and maintain data transmissions between the other data source providers (e.g., EMS, poison control, vital statistics).
• Oversee and ensure onboarding of syndromic surveillance partners, including establishing transport, reviewing test messages, validating messages, providing feedback to partners on message content and structure issues, and providing technical assistance or support.
• Perform a review of data quality and maintain active communication with data providers regarding issues associated with file transfer and data quality.
• Serve as the site administrator for the National Syndromic Surveillance Program which includes responding to data quality inquiries from NSSP, managing the master facility list, and monitoring data quality.
• Assist with operating the ESSENCE-FL helpdesk.
• Participate in special surveillance projects during key events.
• Assist with syndromic surveillance data quality efforts including monitoring dashboards and infrastructure development to support data quality efforts.
• Facilitate, attend, and participate in syndromic surveillance team meetings.
• Conduct systems training for county and state users.
• Develop training materials including recording the training and ensure materials can be distributed after the training.
• Assist with updating team training manual and other materials as needed.
• Document and centrally organize business and system requirements, implementation guides, standard operating procedures, and processes as it relates to syndromic surveillance.
• Attend national syndromic surveillance calls or trainings, quarterly grantee calls, and other relevant national calls or trainings related to the implementation of syndromic surveillance.
• Assist with the submission of project deliverable updates for grants related to syndromic surveillance to the Center for Disease Control.
Job Requirements
- Two years of experience working in disease surveillance and surveillance systems.
- Two years of experience working with electronic medical records using the Health Level 7 (HL7) messaging standard.
- Two years of experience with data analysis, data integration, or database management.
- Two years of programming experience with Statistical Analysis Software (SAS), R software, Qlik, SQL, or Python software in the last five years.
- Two years of experience working with hospital medical records and records management systems.
- Two years of experience with and applying informatics principles for standardized vocabulary transport, and interoperability between systems.
