Role Description
Peraton is seeking a mid-level AI/ML Engineer to design, develop, and deploy scalable AI/ML and generative AI solutions in support of a federal customer mission. This role focuses on production-ready AI systems, LLM-based workflows, and automation solutions that enhance operational performance and decision-making.
- Design and implement generative AI solutions from pilot through production deployment.
- Develop agent-based LLM workflows with structured outputs and tool integrations.
- Perform advanced data modeling, predictive analytics, and statistical analysis.
- Deploy AI/ML models using modern DevOps practices (Git, CI/CD).
- Integrate AI capabilities with enterprise systems and cloud environments.
- Implement monitoring, guardrails, and governance controls for responsible AI.
- Provide technical guidance and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 6+ years experience in a STEM discipline or high school diploma/equivalent and 12 years of experience
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
- Strong proficiency in Python; experience with APIs and cloud AI platforms.
- Experience with LLM platforms (e.g., Azure OpenAI, GPT models, Claude, Gemini).
- Experience with RAG architectures and advanced prompt engineering.
- U.S Citizenship; must have the ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar ML frameworks.
- Experience with agent frameworks or autonomous AI workflows.
- Familiarity with Anthropic MCP or similar orchestration protocols.
- Cloud AI certifications (AWS ML Specialty, Azure AI Engineer, Google Professional ML Engineer).

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
