Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager, Warehousing who will be responsible and fully accountable for the performance, compliance, cost efficiency, and service levels of all internal warehouse operations and third-party logistics (3PL) partners.

This role leads strategy execution, operational excellence initiatives, and continuous improvement across the warehousing network to ensure safety, inventory accuracy, service reliability, and financial performance.

The Sr. Operations Manager drives alignment between supply chain strategy and day-to-day execution while building high-performing teams and strong external partnerships.

This is a remote role that will require 25%-40% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership
    • Lead all internal warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping.
    • Oversee performance of third-party warehouse providers (3PLs) against established KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs).
    • Ensure operational readiness to meet demand fluctuations, seasonal peaks, and growth initiatives.
    • Develop and execute warehouse network optimization strategies.
  • 3PL Management & Governance
    • Establish and maintain performance scorecards for all third-party warehouse partners.
    • Conduct regular business reviews (QBRs/MBRs) with 3PL providers.
    • Ensure contractual compliance, cost control, and service excellence.
    • Lead RFP processes, contract negotiations, and onboarding of new warehouse partners when required.
  • Financial & KPI Accountability
    • Own warehouse operating budgets (labor, storage, freight, overhead, capital investments).
    • Drive cost-per-unit improvements while maintaining or improving service levels.
    • Monitor and report on KPIs including:
      • Inventory accuracy
      • Order accuracy
      • On-time shipping
      • Dock-to-stock cycle time
      • Safety performance
      • Cost per order / per pallet
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all facilities (internal and 3PL) operate in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
    • Lead safety audits, compliance reviews, and corrective action plans.
  • Continuous Improvement & Systems
    • Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives.
    • Drive warehouse process standardization across network locations.
    • Partner with IT and Supply Chain teams to optimize WMS and reporting tools.
    • Implement automation and technology solutions to improve productivity and accuracy.
  • Leadership & Talent Development
    • Lead and develop warehouse managers, supervisors, and operations teams.
    • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability frameworks.
    • Drive employee engagement, retention, and succession planning initiatives.
    • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Transportation, Procurement, Customer Service, and Sales teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive warehouse or distribution center leadership experience.
  • Experience managing both internal warehouse operations and third-party logistics providers.
  • Strong financial acumen and P&L responsibility experience.
  • Proven track record of driving operational improvements and cost reductions.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (MBA or related field) - Preferred.
  • Lean / Six Sigma certification - Preferred.
  • Multi-site warehouse leadership experience - Preferred.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing WMS systems - Preferred.

Job Requirements
