Job Description
Role Description
The Fractional Controller will serve as the primary accounting and finance leader for multiple client organizations. This role is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, improving processes, and delivering accurate, timely reporting. The position supports several clients simultaneously and requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a client-service mindset.
- Lead month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Oversee revenue, expenses, accruals, and general ledger activity
- Manage and develop domestic and international accounting staff
- Maintain GAAP compliance and internal controls
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
- Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Analyze variances, trends, and performance metrics
- Monitor compliance calendars and regulatory requirements
- Oversee AP, AR, billing, inventory, and revenue recognition
- Evaluate and implement accounting systems and tools
- Manage relationships with banks, vendors, and external partners
- Document and improve accounting workflows and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
- CPA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience in fractional, outsourced, or advisory roles preferred
- Previous Controller-level responsibility strongly preferred
Requirements
- Experience supporting startup and growth-stage companies
- Background in outsourced accounting, advisory, or client services
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
- Experience with CPG and inventory-based businesses (food and beverage preferred)
- Strong knowledge of revenue recognition, COGS, and inventory costing
- Understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP standards
- Experience with trade spend and promotion accounting
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong problem-solving and project management abilities
