Role Description

Thanks to some new funding we are looking to hire several physics/math postdocs at the Wolfram Institute. The positions start this fall, 2025, and will initially be for 1 year. They can be virtual.

The focus will be topics related to the Wolfram Physics Project (wolframphysics.org). Current topics include:

• Connections to other approaches (e.g. spin networks, string theory, etc.)
• Infrageometry: Build a mathematical structure analogous to traditional geometry etc. but on top of limits of hypergraphs rather than Euclidean space.
• General Relativistic Correspondence: Do explicit simulations of large-scale limits of hypergraph rewriting, understanding their correspondence and deviations from standard General Relativity.
• Sub Quantum Field Theory: Explore the correspondence between multiway causal graphs and toy (and lower-level) versions of Feynman diagrams.
• Experimental Implications: Search for situations (e.g. dimension fluctuations) where effects from our models are visible, and automatically mine existing literature for cases where such effects have been investigated.

Qualifications

• Outstanding people broadly knowledgeable about modern mathematical physics
• Good fluency in Wolfram Language
• Able to thrive in intense intellectually rigorous projects
• Able to deliver creative results within a defined overall framework
