Role Description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Product Manager, Payments in United States.

In this high-impact role, you will own and evolve the end-to-end payments and checkout experience across mobile and web platforms, supporting a large-scale consumer marketplace processing over $1B in annual GMV. You will shape the strategy, roadmap, and execution for a mission-critical ecommerce engine, ensuring seamless, secure, and high-converting transactions.

Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Data, Finance, Operations, and Risk, you will optimize payment performance while balancing fraud prevention and user experience. This is a senior individual contributor position with significant influence, offering the opportunity to drive measurable business outcomes at scale. If you thrive in complex, infrastructure-heavy product environments and enjoy turning data into action, this role offers both ownership and impact.

  • Own the end-to-end payments and checkout ecosystem across mobile app, mobile web, and desktop web, optimizing for conversion, speed, reliability, and trust.
  • Define and execute the payments product strategy and roadmap, continuously improving checkout performance through experimentation and data-driven iteration.
  • Expand and optimize payment method offerings to meet customer expectations and maximize successful transaction rates.
  • Manage and optimize relationships with backend payment infrastructure partners, including payment service providers (PSPs), orchestration platforms, and fraud prevention vendors.
  • Partner with Risk and Operations teams to design fraud mitigation systems that protect the business while minimizing customer friction.
  • Analyze transaction performance metrics, including authorization rates, failure modes, and fraud trends, to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the ecommerce platform remains scalable, resilient, and aligned with growth objectives.
  • Take full ownership of outcomes across the payments funnel, driving continuous performance improvements.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of product management experience, with substantial ownership of payments, checkout, or ecommerce platforms.
  • Proven experience managing payment service providers, payment orchestration layers, or fraud solutions in high-scale consumer environments.
  • Strong understanding of checkout optimization, authorization rate improvement, and fraud versus conversion tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated success operating as a senior individual contributor, driving both strategy and execution across cross-functional teams.
  • Comfort working with technical, infrastructure-heavy systems and collaborating closely with engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience leveraging data, experimentation, and A/B testing to guide decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to balance customer experience, business performance, risk, and compliance considerations.
  • Experience in consumer marketplaces, high-GMV ecommerce, global payments, or alternative payment methods is a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $212,000 – $250,000 USD, based on experience and market benchmarks
  • Equity package and performance-based growth opportunities
  • Flexible paid time off (PTO)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and disability coverage
  • 401(k), HSA, and pre-tax savings programs
  • Family-forming benefits through Carrot Fertility
  • Monthly event credits ($1,200 annually)
  • Wellness programs, company off-sites, and team meet-ups
  • Inclusive, diverse, and collaborative work environment
