Job Description

A pioneer in K–12 education since 2000, Amplify is leading the way in next-generation curriculum and assessment. Our core and supplemental programs in ELA, math, and science engage all students in rigorous learning and inspire them to think deeply, creatively, and for themselves. Our formative assessment products help teachers identify the targeted instruction students need to build a strong foundation in early reading and math. All of our programs provide educators with powerful tools that help them understand and respond to the needs of every student. Today, Amplify serves more than 15 million students in all 50 states. As a Co-Op at Amplify, you will join a collaborative team solving complex challenges in education through innovative technology. You’ll gain hands-on experience contributing to real-world applications across user experience, APIs and services, data analysis, testing, monitoring, and deployment pipelines.

Example Projects You Might Work On:

  • Designing and building engaging web experiences for teachers and students using modern front-end tools

  • Implementing logic to support student learning workflows — from data persistence to personalized activity selection

  • Improving system performance to support millions of students with reliability, scalability, and security in mind

  • Contributing to application monitoring and performance optimization efforts

  • Enhancing internal tooling, development workflows, and overall customer experience

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Writing automated tests (including front-end automation using frameworks such as WebdriverIO)

  • Supporting equitable student experiences by building applications that perform reliably across platforms and under variable memory and network conditions

  • Assisting with load testing and performance analysis to improve application reliability and uptime

  • Monitoring application health to ensure consistent availability for teachers and classrooms

  • Writing and maintaining API tests to ensure seamless interoperability between services

  • Contributing to secure, privacy-conscious software development practices

  • Investigating and resolving bugs using monitoring tools such as DataDog or AWS CloudWatch

Required Qualifications:

  • Foundational knowledge of computer science principles, including algorithms and data structures

  • Experience with Java, Python, or JavaScript, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies

  • Familiarity with relational databases

  • Exposure to web application development

  • Strong collaboration skills and openness to giving and receiving feedback

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in education technology

  • Previous internship, project, or academic experience in software development

What we offer:

This role is eligible for participation in a 401(k) plan. The annualized gross salary for this role is $62,400.
