Job Description

Bilingual (Spanish) Director, Global Acceptance – Americas (Remote-Eligible)

Capital One is seeking a Director for our International Markets - Americas team who will lead a team of client relationship managers and manage the relationships with existing as well as prospective Acquiring and Payment Enablement partners for the purpose of growing and maintaining the Discover Network Acceptance footprint in the Caribbean. The Director will oversee the overall strategy in the region, business development efforts, sales activities, and relationship management duties for Network Participants in the Caribbean. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct client relationship management with senior level partners, working with partners to grow our presence, negotiating new and renewal agreements, and assisting marketing and product areas in adding a span of activities and products used by the partners in the region that enhance cardholder experience

  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to increase Discover Network’s market share in merchant acquiring across target markets, adapting to local regulations and cultural nuances

  • Optimize merchant acceptance levels by analyzing data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for enhancements

  • Represent Discover Network at industry events and trade shows to build brand awareness, foster C-suite relationships, and generate new business leads in the region

  • Oversee strategic and tactical activity, and develop and support talent to deliver business growth and succession requirements

  • Monitor existing partners to assess business performance and ensure that each is performing in the best interests of Global Payment Network. Take appropriate mitigating actions when necessary

  • Negotiate favorable/profitable contracts for existing and new partners

  • Oversee the acceptance levels in priority merchant verticals in the region, including Airlines, Hotels, Restaurants, Retail and Travel Operators

  • Source and develop new partnerships for uncovered or underserved territories. Including card present and card not present acceptance, as well as ATM coverage

  • Assist in the launch of new products and programs for partners in the region

  • Ensure a well-managed approach to the activities in the region

  • Perform activities in compliance with all Anti-Money Laundering, Regulations and Enhanced Due Diligence requirements. monitor along with other areas of DGN to ensure compliance

  • Monitor market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team and other company functions

  • Client Engagement: Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time

Successful candidates will need to complete a Language Assessment

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma, GED or equivalent certification 

  • At least 9 years of business development, sales, marketing or relationship management experience within the payments industry 

  • Fluent in Spanish and English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 10+ years of business development, sales, marketing or relationship management experience within the payments industry 

  • Experience working with key players across targeted markets, including Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Central America, and the Caribbean

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
