Role Description
The Accounts Payable Manager leads the full accounts payable function with a strong focus on improving efficiency, expanding automation, and ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments. This role manages the complete payment lifecycle, partners closely with Treasury for cash planning and predictability, and collaborates with Inventory Planning to improve data accuracy and streamline processes. The manager oversees an onshore AP team and is responsible for building and integrating an offshore support model to increase scalability and reduce SG&A costs.
- Oversee daily AP operations including invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payment processing.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of vendor payments while maintaining strong internal controls and GAAP compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on automation, workflow optimization, and reducing manual processes.
- Manage the full payment lifecycle and support vendor relationships through effective communication and issue resolution.
- Partner with Treasury to support cash forecasting, improve payment predictability, and optimize working capital.
- Develop reporting and insights related to AP metrics, cash outflows, invoice throughput, and processing efficiency.
- Collaborate with Inventory Planning to enhance data accuracy, streamline 3-way match processes, and reduce discrepancies.
- Lead and develop an onshore AP team while designing and managing an offshore support structure.
- Implement scalable AP policies and SOPs to support growth and improve consistency across teams.
- Support month-end close with accurate accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or accounting operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency with AP automation tools, ERP systems, and payment processing platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
- Experience partnering with Treasury, Procurement, Inventory Planning, or other operational teams.
- Ability to lead both onshore and offshore teams effectively, ensuring smooth workflow distribution and quality control.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
