Role Description
This role offers the opportunity to lead credit risk management across the full lifecycle of a consumer portfolio, ensuring prudent growth while minimizing financial risk. The AVP, Portfolio Credit will work closely with client teams, leadership, and cross-functional partners to deliver actionable insights, strategic guidance, and data-driven recommendations.
- Own the full lifecycle of credit risk management for the assigned consumer portfolio, providing strategic oversight and operational guidance.
- Partner with retail clients and internal teams to manage risk while supporting portfolio growth and client satisfaction.
- Prepare and present insights, analytics, and recommendations to leadership and client teams to enable informed decision-making.
- Lead the development and implementation of enhanced credit and fraud risk strategies, leveraging champion/challenger approaches.
- Provide analytics input for promotional and deal pricing activities, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
- Coordinate cross-functional and multi-site resources to deliver accurate reporting, MIS, and performance metrics.
- Set clear guidance on risk appetite and prudent growth across the organization.
- Challenge critical decisions and business processes constructively to maintain portfolio integrity.
- Support special projects and initiatives as needed, contributing to organizational priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years in consumer or commercial credit/risk, finance, or analytics; or 8+ years in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years’ experience analyzing large datasets to generate actionable credit insights using SAS, SQL, R, Python, or other analytics tools.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to distill complex information for senior management and clients.
- Experience operating effectively in cross-functional teams and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Familiarity with consumer lending products, credit risk management, and fraud mitigation strategies.
- Advanced experience with SAS/SQL or comparable analytics platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and evolving environment.
