Role Description

The employee will serve as the Nurse (QM Program Manager), located in the Quality, Training and Risk Management Veterans Crisis Line (VCL), Veterans Affair (VA). The VCL is a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week, 365-days-a-year service aimed at connecting callers worldwide to a caring, qualified Veterans Administration employee. The VCL's mission is to provide 24/7, world-class suicide prevention and crisis intervention services to Veterans, Service Members and their family members.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in quality management and enterprise risk management for the Veterans Crisis Line.
  • Provides Executive Input in strategic planning, budget, mission and operational planning, and policy development.
  • Utilizes current trends and relevant theories to design/modify, implement, and measure integrated programs within VCL.
  • Ensures the program meets regulatory/accreditation standards, including CARF, AAS, ICMI, and VHA policies.
  • Responsible for quality indicators including analysis of data from monthly reporting trends.
  • Develops and implements programs, policies, and procedures to meet program goals and monitor outcomes.
  • Ability to balance responsibilities in a complex environment and work with great autonomy.
  • Serves as a member of VCL's Executive Leadership Council and collaborates with key stakeholders.
  • Ensures the quality assurance plan is developed, implemented, and sustained each fiscal year.
  • Develops education to be disseminated nationwide via webinar and other technological platforms.
  • Consults with members of the Suicide Prevention Office and researchers for effective clinical interventions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • English Language Proficiency.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth.
  • Specialized experience in mental health, accreditation, and quality assurance preferred.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or a related field with a BSN and 4 years of professional nursing experience.
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field with 3 years of professional nursing experience.
  • Leadership characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability.
  • Experience in health care delivery, business acumen, communication, and relationship management.
