Role Description

The Information / Cybersecurity Specialist 1 supports cybersecurity and information assurance activities related to the protection of information systems, applications, and data supporting mission platforms. This role assists in implementing security controls, monitoring system security posture, and supporting compliance with applicable cybersecurity policies and standards.

  • Support cybersecurity activities related to system security and information assurance.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining security controls for information systems.
  • Support vulnerability scanning, security monitoring, and incident response activities.
  • Assist in reviewing system configurations and security documentation.
  • Support compliance with cybersecurity policies, standards, and security frameworks.
  • Participate in security assessments and remediation activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to address security requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 0–3 years of relevant cybersecurity or information assurance experience.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, system security concepts, and information assurance practices.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative technical environment.

Requirements

  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies or areas:
    • Cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Container security (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Security monitoring and vulnerability management tools
    • Linux or Windows system administration
    • Network security principles
    • Scripting languages such as Python or Bash
    • DevSecOps practices within CI/CD environments

Highly Desired Expertise

  • Secure software development practices
  • Cloud-native security architecture
  • Security monitoring and observability tools
  • Understanding of event-driven architectures and microservices environments
  • Experience supporting Agile development teams

Certifications

  • The following certifications may be required depending on the assigned team:
    • DoD Directive 8570 / 8140 compliant certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+) for Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II roles
    • Certified ScrumMaster (Scrum Alliance)

Salary Range

Salary Range: $79,000.00 - $99,000.00 (Commensurate with experience)

Note: The above salary range is a guideline and represents a broad spectrum of potential compensation. We recognize that a candidate's unique experience and qualifications may justify compensation beyond this range. Therefore, we remain open to considering higher salary offers for exceptionally qualified candidates.
