Position Summary
Telecommunications is one of the fastest growing industries and we are expanding our team to meet our client’s ever-expanding demand for quality OSP & Utility Infrastructure Engineering! We are looking for a self-motivated and detail-orientated individual with a strong work ethic who balances technical knowledge with rigorous organizational oversight to effectively communicate Quality Standards/Feedback to both internal/external parties. We are offering an opportunity for a driven QA/QC Project Manager to join us and progress their professional career along with our organization to help position Network Connex as the “go to” vendor within the Telecom / Outside-Plant (OSP) Industry.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Oversight / Quality Framework Development
- Responsible for accuracy and content of the OSP engineering drawings created (including for permit, for construction and as-builts).
- Collaborate with team to build upon Internal Standards to ensure all Engineering Deliverables meet these internal requirements and the needs of our Customers.
- Compile and maintain comprehensive QA/QC manuals and inspection checklists for OSP design (FTTH, Long Haul, etc.) and construction.
- Perform regular Engineering Audits to ensure all our OSP engineering drawings adhere to telecom/utility standards (e.g., NESC, FOA) as well Permitting/Regulatory correspondence (DOT/County/City/RUS).
- Support all Redline Revisions with specific reasoning based on client requirements, agency regulations, or field/construction feedback. Document reoccurring issues to ensure these are addressed within Internal Standard Documentation.
Vendor Management
- Main Point of Contact (POC) with our Vendor(s) to oversee their contracted work to ensure these partner relationships are a success.
- Provide Quality Framework and Feedback to our Vendor(s) via a comprehensive QC Review Process doctored selectively to customer specifications and internal requirements.
- Manage Vendor(s) to assure that that they are consistently completing work within the specific time periods requested while maintaining accuracy, completeness, quality, and thoroughness.
- Ensure Vendor(s) that that they are updating Project Management Tools on a daily basis to reflect precise statuses and revised forecasting.
- Be in constant communication with Leadership with reporting progress of Vendor contracted work/projects.
Technical Design/Engineering Support
- Apply previous OSP Engineering experience, Internal Quality Standards, and telecom/utility regulations to provide insight on design questions (best build environment, handhole/manhole placements, conduit routing, etc).
- Identify design conflicts and resolve proactively with expedited decisions based on changing field conditions, customer needs, or financial constraints.
- Provide technical assistance with Permitting/Regulatory correspondence (DOT/County/City/RR).
Know when to seek assistance or escalate unresolved questions to Engineering leadership in order to collaborate together on a resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/electrical engineering, Telecommunications, Business Administration, or equivalent field experience.
- 5+ years’ experience within the Telecommunications Industry (OSP Background Preferred).
- Engineer-In-Training or Professional Engineer desired.
- Previous AutoCAD Experience to prepare drawings - Preferably using **Autodesk Civil 3D**.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of MOT/TCP requirements and right-of-way permitting.
- Prior involvement with OSP Construction, Installation, Maintenance, Break-Fix, etc.
- Experience working in multi-jurisdictional state environments.
- Basic understanding or experience with using GIS-Data or Esri based Platforms.
- Possesses extensive knowledge of the network infrastructure specific to FTTH projects.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience within the Telecommunications Industry or working in similar capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of OSP fiber design, construction, permitting, and fiber standards.
- Familiarity with typical CAD standards within the civil engineering industry.
- Prior Project Managing Experience including Customer/Client interfacing.
- Strong attention to detail, works with precision/efficiency, and shows a commitment to quality.
- Possesses understanding of telecom and utility standards (NESC, RUS, DOT, municipal standards).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, profiles, and utility records.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and Vendor Management.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Software Programs.
