Role Description

You'll work directly on the systems that keep our messaging infrastructure running — and have real ownership over making them better.

• Own the reliability and performance of our messaging infrastructure across every protocol we support.
• Know systems better than anyone and stay ahead of the problems before they become outages.
• Dig deep into messaging protocols (iMessage, RCS, SMS) and become the expert on how they behave at scale.
• Build and run load tests, understand rate limits by protocol, and engineer around them.
• Design fallback systems so messages always get delivered.
• Monitor and get ahead of infrastructure issues — expired certs, degraded performance, protocol changes.
• Work closely with the engineering team to improve deliverability across the platform.

Qualifications

• Get satisfaction from things working reliably, not just working once.
• Have experience with distributed systems, infrastructure, or DevOps at a real scale.
• Prefer to fix the root cause, not the symptom.
• Can hold the full context of a complex system in your head and reason about edge cases.

Requirements

• Experience with messaging protocols (SMS/MMS gateways, RCS, iMessage/APNs) or telecom infrastructure.
• Background in load testing, capacity planning, or site reliability.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, monitoring/alerting tools (Grafana, Datadog, PagerDuty, etc.).
• Experience at a startup or high-growth company.
