Role Description
The Remote Patient Access Insurance Specialist is a non-patient facing role that works remotely or located in a call-center environment. The registrar is responsible for providing high-quality administrative support by managing patient registration, insurance verification, and completing Admissions/ Registrations remotely. The role includes ensuring patients have accurate and up-to-date information while coordinating effectively with healthcare teams and patients.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- Healthcare Financial Management Association - HFMA (CRCR) Certified Revenue Cycle Representative certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
- 1-3 years of experience in healthcare registration or insurance-related positions.
- Previous experience in a physicians' office or hospital setting is preferred.
Requirements
- Register patients into the system by obtaining and verifying personal, demographic, and insurance information remotely.
- Confirm patient insurance eligibility and coverage to ensure billing accuracy and proper processing.
- Accurately enter patient information into electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant databases.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients before their appointments, answering inquiries, and providing assistance with scheduling or registration.
- Collect co-pays or other financial obligations remotely as necessary.
- Adhere to all healthcare regulations, privacy laws (such as HIPAA), and organizational policies in handling patient information.
- Address any issues or concerns related to patient registration or insurance coverage with tact and professionalism.
- Work closely with medical staff, insurance companies, and other departments to ensure smooth patient processing.
