Job Description

• You will be responsible for designing standards, building best practices, and supervising partners to ensure high-quality, efficient deployment of structured and point-to-point cabling infrastructures across multiple data halls. • Play a critical role in enabling high-performance data center infrastructure for cutting-edge technologies. • This is an opportunity to lead complex deployments at scale and set industry benchmarks for cabling excellence. • Develop and validate cabling designs for large-scale data center and GenAI environments, including leaf–spine, super spine, and other high‑density architectures. • Define structured and point‑to‑point cabling standards, selecting appropriate cable types, connector models, and conveyance methods aligned with system design and performance requirements. • Create detailed point‑to‑point cable mappings (source‑to‑target) and use these to produce comprehensive cable matrices and installation plans. • Review and validate solution design documents, including hardware BoMs, network topologies, rack elevations, floor plans, and cable tray/conveyance layouts. • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and align with customer, program, and OEM specifications. • Plan and oversee complex cabling programs involving 20,000+ cables across multiple topologies and installation phases. • Coordinate and manage multiple partner teams working in 24×7 shifts to meet aggressive build timelines and quality targets. • Oversee scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and change-control processes for large-scale cabling deployments. • Identify, document, and communicate design or hardware gaps—such as missing devices, transceivers, rack components, or cabling elements—and drive resolution with engineering and vendor teams. • Review and validate final vendor cable orders/quotes for accuracy and completeness. • Lead and supervise partner teams during installation of copper, fiber, and InfiniBand cabling in live data center environments. • Publish finalized cable matrices and partner installation instructions, ensuring clarity and completeness of deployment documentation. • Verify proper labeling, documentation, routing, and strain‑relief practices throughout installation. • Conduct onsite inspections to ensure installation quality, completeness, and compliance with standards and safety practices. • Support ongoing deployments through rapid issue resolution, coordination with field teams, and escalation management as needed. • Establish and maintain cabling standards, documentation templates, workflows, and operational best practices for hyperscale and GenAI cabling programs. • Drive continuous improvement across design, installation, partner performance, and quality assurance processes. • Contribute to the qualification and evaluation of new cabling partners, ensuring capability, scalability, and alignment with Dell program standards. • Serve as the Cabling Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Dell’s GenAI solutions and other large‑scale cabling engagements. • Provide technical presales support to the CTO organization, helping shape customer solutions and validate cabling/conveyance strategies. • Participate in customer meetings to explain design approaches, cabling requirements, deployment methodologies, and partner engagement models. • Compile final cable Bills of Materials (BoMs), including length takeoffs (manually or via partner inputs), and ensure accurate translation of design intent into executable installation plans.

Job Requirements

  • Technical Expertise requires deep knowledge of copper, fiber, and InfiniBand cabling systems and large-scale deployments (10,000+ endpoints) and inter-data hall trunking for large GPU clusters (5,000+ GPUs)
  • cable provider familiarity: Siemens, Corning, Panduit, CommScope
  • Project Leadership of complex cabling projects with multiple teams and vendors with the organizational and communication skills to manage 24x7 operations (shifts, team rotation and efficient handover) and work closely with selected partner and lead them through cabling phases (definition and alignment of cabling, labelling and remediation)
  • Attention to Detail includes expertise in cable labeling and documentation for large environments as well as the ability to enforce standards and maintain quality under tight deadlines
  • Mobility to travel across the Americas to lead and supervise the largest cabling programs.
