Role Description
The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) Diagnostic Imaging Service seeks experienced and dynamic radiologists (Physician in Diagnostic Radiology) to fill several remote teleradiology positions located anywhere in the US. Ideal candidates are adaptable team players proficient in interpreting a wide range of diagnostic imaging examinations from modalities of MRI, CT, ultrasound, and general radiography with flexibility to tailor the position to specific skillset.
Selectees will serve as full-time staff radiologists for the Diagnostic Imaging Service, remotely interpreting a range of diagnostic imaging studies from the outpatient, inpatient, and ED settings using a workstation provided by the department. Flexibility is necessary to adapt to departmental needs, which can vary daily based on staffing.
- Interpreting and performing a wide variety of diagnostic imaging examinations.
- Pre-screening high-risk, high-cost and high-demand examinations (CT, US, MRI, etc.) for appropriateness.
- Protocoling radiology examinations (primarily MRI and CT).
- Applying knowledge and understanding of MRI safety, radiation safety, imaging procedures, and relevant accreditation standards.
- Serving as a consultant for interdisciplinary tumor board.
- Consulting with referring clinical services as requested.
- Participating in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
Qualifications
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- License: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Requirements
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- For foreign medical graduates, verification with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is required.
- Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.
