Job Description

Job Description

Position Summary

Our Head of Environment, Social and Governance Programs (Head of ESG) is Agilent’s leader accountable for shaping and delivering the company’s enterprise-wide ESG & sustainability agenda. This role owns the full ESG strategy, governance model, and execution roadmap—translating Agilent’s ESG commitments, including net-zero ambitions, emissions reduction goals, water stewardship, energy efficiency, waste and circularity objectives, into clear, actionable priorities embedded across all functions, regions, and businesses. As the enterprise steward of ESG performance, the Head of ESG Programs ensures measurable outcomes through rigorous standards, transparent metrics, cross-functional accountability, and a mature reporting and assurance framework. This includes overseeing the quality, timeliness, and audit-readiness of all ESG or sustainability disclosures, leading external assurance activities, and serving as Agilent’s primary interface with regulators, auditors, customers, and rating agencies.

The Head of ESG Programs also drives operational integration of ESG programs by partnering closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality & Regulatory, Finance, Legal/HR/Communications, Commercial, and R&D to embed ESG requirements into daily operating practices, long-range business planning, capital investments, footprint decisions, supplier strategy, and product innovation.

A critical responsibility of the Head of ESG Programs is to establish and maintain enterprise sustainability standards, KPIs, governance frameworks, and decision rights, ensuring consistent interpretation and execution across a distributed operational network. Success in this role requires an enterprise-wide mindset; the ability to build systems, standards, and operating mechanisms that scale; and the leadership acumen to drive cross-functional alignment without direct authority.

Key Responsibilities:

ESG Strategy & Governance

  • Define and evolve enterprise strategy aligned to business, regulatory, and stakeholder expectations
  • Establish clear targets, KPIs, and governance aligned to enterprise ESG commitments
  • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of ESG standards across Ops
  • Monitor external ESG trends and evolving standards to inform Agilent ESG strategy

Operational Integration & Enablement

  • Embed ESG requirements into operations, supply chain, products, and partner ecosystems
  • Partner with Agilent leaders to integrate ESG into planning, execution, and investment decisions
  • Enable trade-off discussions balancing cost, resilience, and environmental impact
  • Support capability building and guidance to enable consistent ESG execution across Ops teams

Performance Measurement & Reporting

  • Own ESG metrics, data quality, and reporting cadence
  • Support enterprise ESG reporting with accurate, auditable operational data
  • Track progress, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions as needed
  • Ensure ESG data is audit-ready, traceable, and aligned with internal control requirements

Cross-Functional Alignment & External Engagement

  • Act as the primary interface for sustainability audits, disclosures, and external assessments
  • Coordinate ESG initiatives across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and to functions beyond Global Operations
  • Own continuous improvement and capability building in ESG practices
  • Represent ESG perspective in cross-enterprise forums and external assessments

Decision Rights

  • Progress against operational ESG targets (emissions, energy, waste, water).
  • Integration of ESG metrics into enterprise scorecards.
  • Quality and timeliness of ESG reporting and disclosures.
  • Supplier standards and performance expectations.
  • Risk and cost reduction tied to sustainability initiatives.

Key Success Metrics

  • Achievement of enterprise ESG targets.
  • Data quality and audit readiness for all disclosures.
  • Improved external ESG and sustainability ratings.
  • Supplier compliance with ESG expectations.
  • Reduction in sustainability‑related operational risks and long‑term costs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Environmental Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years in operations, supply chain, sustainability, or transformation roles.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and supply chain environmental impacts.
  • Proven experience defining sustainability metrics, governance, and reporting frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success driving sustainability outcomes at scale.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills.

Core Competencies

  • Enterprise Sustainability and ESG Leadership
  • Operational Integration & Systems Thinking
  • Data Quality, Reporting & Assurance
  • Cross‑Functional Influence & Stakeholder Management
  • Strategic Prioritization & Risk Management
  • Continuous Improvement & Capability Building
