Job Description
Job Title: AI Audit Specialist
About the Role
Auditless is building AI that transforms the audit industry. We are looking for an audit professional who understands audit procedures and can support our technology team to create AI systems that consistently meet professional and regulatory expectations.
This is not a traditional audit role. You will not spend your days grinding through workpapers. Instead, you will shape how AI performs audit work by reviewing its outputs, validating documentation, identifying gaps, refining prompts and workflows, and establishing the quality infrastructure that enables us to scale. You will serve as our quality gatekeeper, ensuring all AI-generated audit work is accurate, defensible, and compliant.
The role is an early startup employee role. You will be asked to do a plethora of different tasks, some that may even be outside of your expertise. We want people who are problem solvers who are energized by tackling the hardest challenges and will push forward through them.
Responsibilities
Review and validate AI-generated audit procedures, workpapers, and documentation.
Identify gaps, errors, inconsistencies, and edge cases in AI-generated audit outputs.
Develop quality review frameworks, checklists, and methodologies for AI-assisted audits.
Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to improve AI accuracy, reliability, and audit-awareness.
Stay up to date with professional standards (GAAS, PCAOB, IAASB) and ensure all outputs comply.
Document best practices and contribute to building internal knowledge bases.
Establish continuous feedback loops that improve AI performance over time.
Engage directly with clients on audit methodology questions and help interpret AI-generated content.
Jump into whatever is needed—client calls, QA, research, workpaper review—to ensure smooth execution.
Qualifications
2–6 years of audit experience with a strong foundation in audit methodology.
Deep familiarity with audit procedures, workpaper documentation, and applicable standards.
Experience working outside traditional audit environments (industry, consulting, innovation roles, etc.).
Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Comfort working with technology, AI tools, and iterative workflows.
Excellent written communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience using AI tools to improve audit or analytical work.
Clear opinions about inefficiencies or gaps in traditional audit practices.
Experience designing processes, templates, checklists, or systems that others adopted.
Experience in a startup or other fast-paced, unstructured environment.
Compensation & Work Environment
Salary plus equity.
Remote-friendly role with flexibility.
High ownership and direct influence on product, methodology, and the future of audit automation.
