Job Description

Overview

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking one full-time Community Health Specialist to assist in coordination of the Bond County Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) project. This grant seeks to expand recovery supports by decreasing stigma, building community capacity, and raising awareness. Successful candidates will work closely with the Bond County Recovery Council. Supervision for this project will be out of the Granite City, IL office.

 

You will be working majority of your time in Bond County, IL. Note that the successful candidates will work primarily from home or in the community. Mon-Fri typically Daytime, Hours.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate programs. This includes, but is not limited to, recovery support events and projects, community trainings, and other evidence-based programs for adults or community members.
  • Lead community groups in their development of evidence-based programs and practices by facilitating their organizational activities, including meetings new member recruitment, and communication with members.
  • Assist in development of grant budget. Manage budget and submit regular updates to supervisor.
  • Conduct outreach services with community stakeholders. Provide data supporting importance in partnering on health area of concern.
  • Develop, conduct, and analyze needs assessments and program evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate media campaigns and/or other educational/informational material based on current research and grant requirements.
  • Identify funding opportunities and coordinate, develop, and write grant and contract applications.
  • Provide program/grant contract reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Take a lead role in mentoring and training staff and interns, routinely and consistently.
  • Participate and take leadership role in local, state, and national advocacy groups/collaborations.
  • Fulfill agency and funder responsibilities including staff development, monitoring research, participation in agency meetings and committees and other responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
  • Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness and spirituality/connectedness in all interactions with others, including utilizing recovery language.
  • Maintain and protect confidentiality and security of all organizational information gained in the course of performing job responsibilities including, but not limited to, financial and client information.
  • Promote Chestnut's culture of customer service excellence through the adherence to Chestnut's behavioral standards for customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Position requires a bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, a master's degree with two years of relevant experience; or be a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or Certified Alcohol and other Drug Counselor (CADC) in good standing with the applicable state and ten years' of lived experience, mental health, substance use or other social service experience.
  • Knowledge of recovery, program development, needs assessment/evaluation and community capacity building is required.
  • Experience in grant writing and budgeting is preferred.
  • Must have ability to provide leadership, handle large projects, and collaborate with others within the agency and community.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Zoom and online reporting systems is required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance, be insurable, and have home internet connection.
  • Position requires ability to travel to locations within the site plan area.
  • Must be able to obtain DCFS CANTS Child Abuse Clearance.

The anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $44,400 - $50,575 annual salary.
