Job Description
Role Description
Join BILL as an SMB Account Manager (Activation) and help mid-market customers unlock the full value of our spend and expense platform. You’ll own a book of our largest SMB and mid-market accounts, building trusted relationships with finance and accounting leaders to drive adoption, expand usage, and translate their workflows into tangible results. If you are energized by solving real operational challenges for customers and can turn insights into action, this role offers a direct path to measurable impact.
You’ll be part of our post‑sales organization focused on activation and expansion—guiding customers from onboarding through continuous enablement and growth. In this role, you’ll coach teams on best practices, remove friction in product usability, and identify opportunities to extend BILL across departments and subsidiaries. Make an impact at BILL by helping customers modernize their financial operations and realize the promise of automation.
Responsibilities
- Own a portfolio of key SMB and mid‑market accounts; retain and expand revenue through strategic account planning and consistent execution.
- Drive customer activation and ongoing enablement by managing onboarding, training, and adoption programs that deliver time‑to‑value quickly.
- Build executive‑level relationships with finance and accounting leaders; uncover business goals and map BILL solutions to their workflows and processes.
- Identify and close expansion opportunities across additional departments, subsidiaries, and use cases; manage a qualified pipeline end‑to‑end.
- Anticipate and resolve product usability roadblocks; collaborate cross‑functionally to advocate for customer needs and accelerate outcomes.
- Maintain deep fluency in BILL’s products, expense reporting, and accounting practices to consult credibly and guide best‑practice usage.
- Leverage effective time and territory management to maximize impact; conduct on‑site business reviews as needed (travel up to 30%).
- Document activities, pipeline, and forecasts in Salesforce with rigor and accuracy.
Qualifications
- 2+ years in a quota‑carrying account management or sales role with a track record of retention and expansion.
- Proven consultative skills—listening deeply, earning trust, and guiding customers to decisions that drive adoption and value.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including presenting to finance and accounting stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of financial statements (e.g., income statement, balance sheet) and how they inform business decisions.
- Familiarity with leading accounting or ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and how they connect to spend/expense workflows.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in SaaS sales, post‑sales or customer success within fintech, payments, or expense management.
- Background partnering directly with finance/accounting teams or prior experience in a finance/accounting function.
Benefits
- 100% paid employee health, dental, and vision plans (choose HMO, PPO, or HDHP).
- HSA & FSA accounts.
- Life Insurance, Long & Short-term disability coverage.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- 11+ Observed holidays and wellness days and flexible time off.
- Employee Stock Purchase Program with employee discounts.
- Wellness & Fitness initiatives.
- Employee recognition and referral programs.
- And much more.
