Job Description
Role Description
This Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role is designed for a visionary yet hands-on leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution. You will be accountable for the full spectrum of financial leadership—setting strategy, driving performance, mitigating risk, and ensuring compliance—while also embedding yourself into operational processes to guarantee outcomes are realized. This is not a “from the corner office” role; you will actively partner with executive leadership, operational teams, and facility managers to translate financial strategy into actionable initiatives that accelerate growth, improve efficiency, and optimize resident care.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned CFO or senior financial leader with experience in skilled nursing, assisted living, or healthcare operations who is ready to take ownership of financial performance, lead and develop high-performing teams, and leave a tangible mark on a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and direct the organization's full financial strategy, including annual budgeting, long-term forecasting, and detailed financial reporting, ensuring that all plans are aligned with operational realities and growth objectives.
- Act as a strategic partner to operational leadership and facility management teams, analyzing financial and operational performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, and driving initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase revenue without compromising quality of care.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire finance and accounting teams to achieve excellence in all financial processes, including month-end close, internal controls, audit preparation, and regulatory reporting, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide actionable insights and financial modeling to inform leadership on critical decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, new service lines, capital investments, and operational expansions, ensuring financial implications are fully understood and strategically managed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with auditors, lenders, and other financial partners, ensuring ongoing credibility, transparency, and access to capital necessary to support growth and operational initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal healthcare regulations, reporting requirements, and accounting standards while implementing systems and processes that allow for agility and operational flexibility.
- Balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution, stepping into operational and financial processes where needed to remove bottlenecks, streamline workflows, and ensure that financial strategy translates into real-world operational impact.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop long-term financial plans and operational benchmarks, using data-driven analysis to guide decisions, identify opportunities for cost savings, and optimize the overall financial health of the organization.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CFO or senior financial leader in skilled nursing facilities, with deep understanding of healthcare operations, financial management, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with assisted living and homecare operations strongly preferred, with the ability to navigate diverse revenue streams and operational models.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing finance teams while remaining engaged in operational execution and decision-making.
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, reporting, and regulatory compliance, with a record of driving measurable improvements in financial performance.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to influence executive decision-making and inspire teams across multiple locations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA designation preferred but not mandatory.
Requirements
- Competitive base salary: $275,000 – $350,000, with potential to reach $400,000 based on experience and demonstrated impact.
- Flexible start date in May or June, providing immediate opportunity to shape growth, implement systems, and drive operational and financial success.
