Overview
FWI is building a team to support CDC's Division of Cancer Prevention and Control in expanding the reach and impact of the Screen for Life: National Colorectal Cancer Action Campaign through strategic communications, media outreach, formative research, and performance evaluation. As a Research and Evaluation Specialist, you will lead formative research, audience analysis, and campaign performance measurement to ensure strategies are evidence-based and continuously optimized.

**Position is contingent upon contract award**
Work Schedule and Location:
Remote: This is a remote position requiring approximately 1,410 hours per year, averaging roughly 27 hours per week. Weekly hours may vary depending on campaign activity, media placement schedules, and deliverable deadlines. Work is performed Monday through Friday, with core availability required during 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM Eastern Time. Occasional travel may be required to support formative research activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead research, evaluation, and data analysis activities supporting campaign planning and performance measurement
- Conduct environmental scans and audience analysis to inform campaign strategy and messaging
- Perform formative research activities including literature reviews, analysis of relevant published research, and collection of qualitative insights from stakeholders and target audiences
- Support the development of communication and marketing plans based on research findings and data-driven insights
- Evaluate campaign performance through analysis of metrics including web analytics, social media engagement, and paid media performance data
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics reports summarizing campaign performance across all channels and activities
- Provide actionable recommendations for improving communication strategies, messaging effectiveness, and outreach impact
- Collaborate with the Program Manager and Campaign and Media Manager to integrate research findings into campaign planning and execution
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or equivalent years of professional experience in lieu of a degree)
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in research, evaluation, data analysis, or a related field, preferably in public health, health communications, or social marketing
- Demonstrated experience conducting formative research, environmental scans, and audience analysis
- Proficiency in analyzing web analytics, social media metrics, and media performance data
- Strong analytical, writing, and data visualization skills
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
Desired:
- Master's degree in public health, communications, social science, marketing research, or a related field
- Experience supporting research and evaluation for CDC or other federal public health campaigns
- Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, social media analytics platforms, and survey research methodologies
- Knowledge of cancer screening awareness and health behavior change research
