About Cylinder Health

Founded in 2021 and offered as an employer benefit, Cylinder (formerly Vivante Health) delivers personalized, clinician-backed care to those suffering from digestive issues through its virtual health platform. Cylinder’s tech-forward, human-first program connects members to the right level of support at the right time through an easy interface, bringing the healthcare ecosystem together to align around member needs. Cylinder’s dedicated care teams help members proactively address their gut health from every angle – decreasing costs, reducing absenteeism, and improving their quality of life, at scale. Cylinder’s vision is to create a world where people receive convenient, personalized, and affordable access to the quality digestive healthcare they need to improve their overall health.

Position Summary

We're seeking a talented and motivated Product Designer to join our team. As the sole product designer at Cylinder, reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you'll own the end-to-end design function and play a pivotal role in shaping the Cylinder experience — designing features that not only enhance our users' interactions but also contribute to better health outcomes. This is a role brimming with opportunities, enabling you to grow in a fast-paced environment while making a significant difference in people's lives. If you are passionate about user-centered design, enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams, and are eager to design a product that truly impacts people's health, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Own all stages of the design process for the Cylinder platform, from user research and wireframing to final implementation, leveraging AI-powered design and prototyping tools to accelerate workflows and explore design solutions efficiently.

  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and clinical teams to create easy-to-use and visually appealing experiences that align with business goals.

  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including specifications, interactive mockups, and style guides.

  • Perform usability testing and gather user feedback to inform design decisions.

  • Stay updated with the latest UX trends, AI design tools, and competitor products.

  • Ensure the integrity of our product design system while collaborating with marketing to maintain brand consistency.

You'll be a good fit here if you are:

  • Passionate about using design to make a positive impact on people's health outcomes.

  • Driven by curiosity and a desire for continuous learning, always staying updated with the latest design trends and technologies.

  • A creative problem solver who isn't afraid to take on the challenges of designing for the healthcare industry.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile, and remote environment.

  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.

  • Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for aesthetics and visually appealing designs.

  • Open to feedback and constantly willing to improve your design skills.

  • Able to manage time and prioritize tasks to ensure project deadlines are met.

Desired Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in product design, demonstrating an understanding of design principles, user-centered design methodologies, and best practices.

  • While formal education in Product Design is a plus, it's not required. We value experience and skills and welcome candidates from diverse educational backgrounds.

  • Proficiency in Figma is required.

  • Comfort with AI-powered design and productivity tools (e.g., AI features within Figma, ChatGPT, or similar) and a willingness to integrate them into your workflow.

  • Experience implementing user research methods such as surveys, interviews, usability testing, and data analysis to gather actionable insights. Familiarity with the Maze user testing platform is a plus.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions to various stakeholders.

  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.

  • Digital healthcare experience is not required but preferred.

Cylinder is an equal opportunity employer. We believe safe spaces where everyone can be their authentic selves is the key to a successful team so we welcome and embrace all identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
