Role Description

The Senior Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist performs reviews of commercial loans to ensure compliance with established policies and standards. Reviews small- to mid-size loans of standard complexity. Analyzes and advises lenders on modification to loan structure as needed to mitigate risk/loss. Prepares and reviews commercial loan documentation in accordance with legal enforceability requirements, Golden1's credit policy and procedures, and regulatory statutes.

  • Prepare loan documentation completely and accurately consistent with approval terms and conditions.
  • Under supervision draft ancillary agreements/documents outside of the documentation program as necessary to mitigate risk.
  • Under supervision analyze proposed loan and modify loan structure/requested documentation as necessary to mitigate Credit Union risk and loss.
  • Ensure adherence to commercial credit policy, Credit Union underwriting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify documentation risks and make recommendations as needed based on specific loan transactions.
  • Work with branch personnel/title company/insurance agents/appraisal/portfolio administration to address any problems discovered during the file review.
  • Partners with the supervisor to perform secondary review of the larger loan files and more complex loan documents.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Entity/Collateral/Title documentation and concepts.
  • May assist with loan funding and quality control reviews after loan boarding.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of High School curriculum is required. Associates degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in loan documentation required.
  • Maintain knowledge of commercial lending requirements, all commercial loan products, commercial loan fulfillment, credit union policies and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Current working knowledge of Commercial Real Estate and Commercial and Industrial lending.
  • Exceptional member service and member relations skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and demands, to work independently with minimal supervision, and to meet deadlines and effectively adjust to changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understand the use of the automated loan origination system. Operate on standard Microsoft programs and other computer operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and interact collaboratively and cultivate partnerships across the organization.

Requirements

  • Effective oral and written communication skills required to interact with members, staff, vendors, servicers, and various regulatory agencies.
  • Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine, and telephone.
  • Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
  • Corrected vision within the normal range.
  • Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
  • Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
  • Occasional long work hours may be required to accomplish tasks.
