Role Description

The Veterinary Technology Program is hiring a Wellness Coordinator to work with our program. The Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology presents a unique opportunity to train veterinary technicians in a supportive, individualized program that will culminate in pursuing rewarding and fulfilling careers in the profession. In collaboration with program leadership, faculty, and external stakeholders, this individual will work with the Assistant Director to implement a comprehensive wellness program with the overarching goal to engage and empower students, faculty, and staff to thrive in both work and in life.

The wellness program will include (but is not limited to):

• Individualized coaching and mentorship support
• Wellness and communication content within the curriculum
• Outcomes assessment

This role will also have teaching responsibilities within the curriculum in the areas of wellness, communication, and the foundational skills to thrive both in life and at work. This individual will need to have an in-depth understanding of the mental health and wellness issues that are currently affecting veterinary professionals, as well as knowledge of and experience with evidence-based strategies that are being used in the field to mitigate the impacts of poor mental health and wellness.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in veterinary medicine, counseling, psychology, social work, or related field
• At least five (5) years of occupational (i.e., practical) experience within the veterinary field or wellness-related field
• Educational background and occupational experience appropriate to fulfill program goals
• Ability to work remotely full-time with occasional travel, as needed

Requirements

• Experience teaching in an online environment and in group facilitation
• Additional credentials and/or certifications related to wellness support and/or communication
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent computer skills and project management skills
• Professional presentation skills
• Experience in coaching and mentoring of students and/or professionals
• Ability to interface with outside agencies and key players in the development of potential partnerships and expanded opportunities
• Experience with online/distance learning environments
