Join us as we transform immunology and deliver medicines that help autoimmune patients get their lives back. argenx is preparing for multi-dimensional expansion to reach more patients through a rich pipeline of differentiated assets, led by VYVGART, our first-in-class neonatal Fc receptor blocker approved for the treatment of gMG, and with the potential to treat patients across dozens of severe autoimmune diseases.
The Director of Corporate Strategy will support driving strategy setting and insights generation, opportunity identification, and business case analysis with a structured and fit-for-purpose approach to set strategies for, and enable structured thinking to support asset teams. The role will help teams to identify opportunities and risks across early-stage assets, support selection and prioritization of indications/programs across the portfolio, and help create and evaluate business cases for our Immunology Innovation Program and Business Development, to support argenx’s overall Corporate Development Strategy.
In this role, you will collaborate across functions to implement best strategy practices, bring structured thinking to complex problems, foster active communication, and inspire collaboration in order to drive strategic outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have experience in or across the following areas: corporate strategy/strategic planning, strategic finance, and/or corporate development. Experience in or exposure to life sciences is required. This role will be based in Boston or Ghent, remote work is possible, and will report to the Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy.
Qualifications
- 10+ years strategic analysis, strategic finance and/or consulting experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare with a proven record of high performance and consistent results.
- An advanced degree in a life sciences discipline or MBA is preferred.
- Rare disease/high-value biologics experience preferred.
- Must have strong social skills, maturity, and be capable of presenting ideas and concepts to a diverse range of individuals.
- Excellence in additional professional competencies including collaborative and cross functional problem solving and communications, innovative thinking, sense of urgency, and a passion for helping patients and their communities.
- Fluent with Microsoft Office and other business-specific software.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Requirements
- Support the analysis of business cases for new opportunities and existing programs.
- Execute analyses to identify and assess portfolio/asset/program risks and opportunities (including new indications).
- Help outline mitigation strategies for identified risks within new program opportunities and for potential program indications.
- Support the analysis of business cases for new opportunities (external and internal) and existing programs.
- Analyse options for assets within our strategic decision making framework to support decision-making.
- Execute valuation analysis and provide inputs and support to strategic scenario analysis to derive insights that support strategic decision making.
- Synthesize cross-functional perspective and inputs into strategic recommendations and present/represent these recommendations in senior and executive-level committee discussions.
- Support the annual strategy setting across the company.
- Collaborate across functions with key global stakeholders including: Science, Preclinical, Medical/Clinical Development, Asset Leaders, CMC, Business Development, New Product Planning, Patient Advocacy, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, Finance, CMC, Commercial, Clinical Science.
- Collaborate with asset level teams, global commercial, finance and/or the business development team to help develop project level forecasting models with assumptions based on market research and literature analyses and help drive long term forecasting at corporate level.
- Help outline mitigation strategies for identified risks.
- Support or drive ad-hoc corporate level strategic projects when necessary.
