Role Description
CompTech is seeking a qualified, cleared Virtual Platform Administrator. As a Virtual Platform Administrator supporting the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing secure, mission-essential virtual infrastructure that directly supports the DoD’s global logistics and sustainment mission. This position offers hands-on responsibility for enterprise-scale virtualization platforms operating in highly controlled, security-sensitive environments.
You will work closely with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operations teams to ensure systems remain available, resilient, and compliant with DoD cybersecurity requirements. This role is ideal for cleared professionals seeking long-term program stability, meaningful mission impact, and the opportunity to support systems that are essential to national defense.
Work Scope
- Manage and maintain virtualized infrastructure across on-premises data centers and DoD and commercial cloud environments, including private, public, and hybrid clouds.
- Implement, configure, and upgrade host systems, hypervisors, and virtual application software, along with supporting hardware, software, and applications.
- Provide cloud-based infrastructure support for virtual machines, virtual appliances, software, programs, applications, and all associated virtualized components.
- Ensure the high availability, security, and integrity of hosts, virtual management platforms, and infrastructure resources.
- Monitor hypervisors, infrastructure, and virtualization applications by configuring alerts, reviewing error logs, and automating administrative tasks to maintain system stability.
- Install and maintain host and virtualization infrastructure patches and releases across development, test, pre-production, and production environments.
- Serve as a key technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving issues related to hosts, hypervisors, and virtual infrastructure.
- Create, maintain, and update accurate system documentation for assigned environments, including configuration details and change tracking.
- Assist with capacity planning, performance monitoring, and tuning of virtualized systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Participate in virtualization disaster recovery and fault-tolerance planning, including the development and support of disaster recovery strategies.
- Analyze performance trends to identify opportunities for optimization and improved system and application performance.
Qualifications
- Seven (7) years of progressive experience in the management and maintenance of virtualized server environments and hosted applications.
- At least two (2) years of qualifying experience must include managing successful large scale, multi-disciplinary (network, virtualization, systems administration) projects involving virtual servers.
- Five (5) years’ hands-on experience working with and supporting Department of Defense (DoD) Commercial Cloud Hosting solutions.
- Well versed in implementing and sustaining complex multicloud solutions.
