Job Description
Role Description
As an experienced Controller, you know the power of clear financial storytelling and disciplined operational leadership. At myHR Partner, you’ll use both to support a company rooted in people-first values - all while working remotely!
As our Controller, you will serve as the top finance leader, reporting directly to our COO and joining our leadership team. You will fully own and operate the finance and accounting function as we transition away from outsourced partners, taking charge of everything from day-to-day accounting to strategic financial planning. This includes hands-on work in QuickBooks, Harvest, and Excel, along with streamlining processes, strengthening controls, and modernizing our financial systems.
You will also help build the future structure of the finance department. While the role is currently a highly hands-on leadership position, there is room to hire additional support as the function grows. Some quarterly travel for leadership team meetings may be required, though these sessions are occasionally held remotely. This is a high-impact role for someone who wants both ownership and influence in a growing, people-first organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a foundation that supports both detailed transactional work and higher-level analysis.
- Experience in a professional services or time-driven revenue environment, with a strong grasp of GAAP.
- Strong skills in accounting and time-tracking software such as QuickBooks, Harvest, or similar tools, with the ability to evaluate and adapt to new systems as the organization grows.
- A high degree of trustworthiness, with a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and maintaining strong financial controls.
- Collaborative leadership skills, and ease working closely with executives and cross-functional partners to guide decision-making.
- Adaptability in a dynamic, growing organization, where processes evolve and continuous improvement is part of the culture – supported by the EOS operating framework.
- A proactive mindset, eager to identify issues, propose solutions, and strengthen systems, workflows, and financial maturity.
- Based in Eastern or Central Time Zone to align with our team’s collaborative rhythm.
Requirements
- Lead core accounting operations, from GL to AP/AR - ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across all financial activities.
- Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, delivering reliable reports and insight that help our leadership team understand trends, performance, and opportunities.
- Guide revenue recognition and project accounting, ensuring we accurately track profitability and understand how time-driven revenue affects our success as a professional services firm.
- Manage cash flow and treasury activities, from forecasting to payment cycles, helping us plan wisely and support healthy growth.
- Strengthen compliance and internal controls, partnering with auditors, tax advisors, and internal teams to uphold accuracy and protect the organization.
- Collaborate with senior leadership in an EOS-driven environment, providing financial insight that influences pricing, strategy, and operational decisions across the company.
- Streamline and modernize systems, improving processes, evaluating tools, and introducing automation that reduces manual work and increases scalability.
Benefits
- Salary in the $125,000 - $150,000 range, depending on experience.
- Remote role with limited travel for quarterly leadership team meetings and company events.
- PTO: 3 weeks front-loaded, 10 company-paid holidays, plus sick time.
- Fully company-paid employee benefits (you read that right, FULLY paid employee benefits for employees!).
- Medical, dental, vision insurance.
- Telemedicine for the family.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- 401(k) with generous match.
- Professional development training.
- Quarterly events, annual employee appreciation, company retreat, and lots of fun in between.
- Anniversary celebrations, gifts, and more.
- Drama-free work environment. We are HR after all!
