Role Description

The Application Engineer serves as a trusted technical resource, ensuring the accurate and effective use of Nook and Thomson products across a wide range of customer applications. In this role, you will engage directly with customers to understand their requirements and translate those needs into well‑reasoned, safe, and cost‑effective product recommendations that meet all performance specifications. This role acts as the technical bridge between our company’s products and the customers who use them. Through this work, you help customers bring their ideas to life and often see those solutions implemented in real‑world environments where they make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely product selection guidance based on customer requirements.
  • Serve as a key liaison between customers and internal teams, including Product Design, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain, to ensure alignment and smooth execution.
  • Communicate professionally across multiple channels, including phone, email, video conferencing.
  • Deliver basic post‑sales support, including troubleshooting and resolving technical inquiries.
  • Leverage internal resources (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Shipping) to address and resolve customer needs.
  • Prepare and document pricing proposals for modified or customized product configurations.
  • Support field sales teams in managing accounts and driving product direction, profitability, growth, and achievement of sales objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of standard procedures and policies that promote lean office practices and performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Prior exposure to application engineering or technical support is preferred (entry level).
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing techniques and Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • Solid understanding of engineering and manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.

Requirements

  • Expected salary: $70,000 - $85,000 annually. The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
