Role Description
The Senior Business Analyst (Sr. BA) is a strategic partner responsible for translating complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements that enable effective decision-making and project execution. Operating within the COO organization, the Sr. BA ensures operational clarity, cross-functional alignment, and solution readiness across enterprise initiatives. This role owns requirements definition, operational workflow documentation, user experience considerations, and implementation readiness—complementing (but not duplicating) the work of Data Analytics and Process Improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, operations, or related field; master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, operational strategy, or project/business systems consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguity into structured requirements and actionable deliverables.
- Proficiency with workflow and documentation tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Miro, Visio).
- Experience working in Agile environments and with cross-functional project teams.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- High attention to detail, systems thinking, and strong ownership mindset.
Requirements
- Lead requirements gathering through interviews, workshops, and process walk-throughs.
- Translate business needs into user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate operations team to clarify scope, assumptions, dependencies, and success metrics for new initiatives.
- Partner with data team to analyze complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Assist in designing dashboards, reports, and KPIs to support decision-making.
- Identify gaps, risks, and decision points early to reduce rework and streamline execution.
- Map current- and future-state workflows at the operational level (non-data, non-process improvement).
- Recommend process improvements to align business processes with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
- Document business rules, roles/responsibilities, decision logic, and handoffs.
- Collaborate with Process Improvement when redesign or root-cause analysis is needed.
- Serve as the connective link between business owners, PMO, Technology, Data, and Process Improvement teams.
- Surfacing performance variation and initiate discussions on the variation.
- Provide support to ensure readiness criteria are met before projects move into development or implementation.
- Partner with other Transformation Office functions to support solutioning, project initiation, backlog refinement, and sprint planning.
- Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) planning, test scripting, defect tracking, and validation.
- Prepare implementation documentation including SOP updates, workflow guides, and user impact summaries.
- Maintain detailed documentation for requirements, workflows, and system changes.
- Support change enablement activities in collaboration with leaders and functional owners.
- Synthesize complex information into concise recommendations, requirements packets, or decision briefs.
- Ensure solutions meet business needs, user expectations, and operational sustainability.

- Budgeted Hiring Range: $132,450 — $149,875 USD
- All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will cover travel, lodging, and other accommodations.
