Role Description

We are designing the grid of the future! This position will have specific emphasis placed on IBR plant dynamic modeling for NERC PRC-029-1 compliance.

  • Conduct IBR Dynamic Modeling studies related to existing and future NERC reliability standards.
  • Perform detailed bulk power system studies using various power system software such as PSCAD and PSSE.
  • Conduct IBR modeling: steady state, short circuit, and dynamic.
  • Perform various compliance technical assessments on IBR facility rating, protection coordination, and ride-through assessment.
  • Process, generate, and maintain data as required for other engineering-related studies.
  • Prepare technical study reports for all studies performed.
  • Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
  • Identify training needs and present them to the Engineering Manager as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in power systems.
  • 5 years+ of experience as a power systems engineer.
  • Experience with NERC PRC-024-3, NERC PRC-029-1, NERC MOD-026-1, NERC MOD-027-1, and NERC MOD-026-2.
  • Experience with performing power system impact studies such as Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability.
  • Experience with power systems software such as PSCAD and PSSE.
  • Experience with automating/programming in Python.
