Role Description

That’s why we’re looking for an IP Foreign Filing Specialist to provide comprehensive support to attorneys and clients for international and foreign patent filings throughout the application lifecycle, including:
- Filing new Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications (including Chapter II Demands), national stage applications, and direct filed foreign applications.
- Preparing formal documents, including Declarations, Powers of Attorney, Assignments, and other formal documents as required for PCT and by foreign countries.
- Working with the firm’s computerized docket system and the docketing department to track, clear, and report on statutory deadlines, including responding to client, attorney, and docketing inquiries as to status.
- Working with attorneys, clients, and foreign associates as necessary to respond to official actions related to PCT and foreign patent applications, throughout the life cycle of the application.
- Maintaining electronic foreign files in accordance with established firm policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- A BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 3 years patent foreign filing experience.
- Thorough knowledge of patent foreign filing policies, procedures, and best practices, including using and maintaining an IP practice management system.
- Experience using ePCT highly preferred.
- Experience with Inprotech and/or CPi preferred.
- Paralegal experience is a plus.
- Computer aptitude; experience using current Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Strong customer service and written/oral communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with and support clients, vendors, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, coordinating multiple tasks.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a high functioning team, with or without direct supervision.
- The ability to learn new technologies, as may be required.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
