Role Description

The successful Human Services Program Supervisor will have oversight for a team of eight Human Services Program Consultants and must live in the South Central region of the state or contiguous to the following counties: Mecklenburg.

  • Supervise Consultants responsible for licensing child care centers and homes.
  • Achieve and maintain compliance with applicable child care licensing requirements.
  • Investigate reports alleging violations of requirements.
  • Manage child care requirements interpretations and communicate new Regulatory Section initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  • Support child care consultant teams by providing consistent training, remediation, and modeling according to an established development plan.
  • Work independently from home and manage work effectively.
  • Handle difficult people in stressful situations while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Coordinate closely with various stakeholders including the Regulatory Services Assistant Director, Senior Managers, and other Division staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education, special education, social work, or related human services area from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • Four years of experience in a child care or related setting involving the coordination, evaluation, or administration of a comprehensive program of child care services.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may also qualify.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of theories, practices, and principles of child development related to child care services.
  • Experience in a child care or related setting involving coordination, evaluation, or administration of child care services.
  • Experience in providing technical assistance and consultation in child care program administration and child development.
  • Experience in supervising professional level staff and projects is essential.
