At Neighbors Bank, strong underwriting is the foundation of every successful mortgage. We’re looking for a Mortgage Underwriting Trainer who brings deep underwriting expertise and a genuine interest in helping others develop their skills.
In this role, you’ll help shape the strength and consistency of the entire underwriting team:
- Train and coach Underwriters and Junior Underwriters on guidelines, systems, and underwriting best practices.
- Support onboarding and development of new underwriting team members.
- Develop and maintain training materials and curriculum across Conventional, FHA, USDA, and VA loan products.
- Provide individualized coaching and act as the first escalation point for trainees.
- Review loan files and make credit decisions when providing underwriting coverage.
- Assist leadership with second-level reviews, audits, and quality control initiatives.
- Partner with Underwriting leadership to identify skill gaps and strengthen team performance.

Requirements
- At least 3 years of mortgage underwriting experience.
- At least 1 year of underwriting training, coaching, or mentoring experience.
- Experience underwriting Conventional, FHA, and USDA loan products.
- Strong working knowledge of mortgage underwriting guidelines and loan documentation.
- The ability to analyze borrower financials and assess overall loan risk.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, production-driven mortgage environment.
- Experience using the systems and technology required for a fully remote lending organization.
- Completion of any required FHA/HUD designation training and USDA training, after starting with our company.
- Consistent reliability and the ability to meet performance expectations in a team-based environment.
